Biography:

Christian Kleine was born in Lindau, a small and beautiful island in the Lake of Constance in South Germany, surrounded by the Alps. Growing up in such pristine surroundings, he began to study classical trumpet at the age of 10, before incorporating electric bass and eventually drums and guitar. New Wave and Post-Punk were key early influences, giving way to an increased interested in house, hip-hop and Detroit techno around the age of 17. At this time, Christian took up DJing, and soon had a regular night in a local club.

In 1995, having moved to Berlin, he began to produce electronic music as a solo artist. Two years later, a promotional encounter with Berlin radio DJ Thaddeus Herrmann birthed the Hermann & Kleine project. Together, the duo recorded two EPs and one album, Our Noise.  His solo debut album, Beyond Repair, was released in 2001, followed by an EP, Valis, on Morr Music.

Christian further collaborated with Arovane, co-producing the latter’s album Tides, and collaborating on a split 7” release. In addition to solo and collaborative work, Christian has remixed a number of diverse artists, including Bomb The Bass and Múm.

Christian Kleine also brought his music to the stage, gracing respected festivals such as Big Chill or Benicàssim and playing as far afield as  Japan, USA, Canada,  Denmark, UK, France, Italy….
